How does Newton’s record work?
Newton saves winner picks for rated FBS matchups in the next seven days before kickoff. Every saved pick counts, including games not featured on the main page. Picks are never rewritten as ratings change. Final scores determine correct and incorrect picks; postponed or canceled games are not counted in the correct-pick percentage. Final-score corrections update the result while preserving the original pick. The season record includes the weeks 1 and 2 retrospective, calculated after those games using revised data and settings selected later. That portion is not a record of forecasts published before kickoff.
Projected scores are estimates, not promises. Interactive matchup previews and simulated seasons do not enter Newton’s record. Picks refresh after a validated team-rating publication. Saved picks and their results are preserved.
Upcoming picks are part of Premium. The full record and every settled pick are open to every free account.
What is free, and what is Premium?
A free account includes rankings, team pages with schedules and results, players, coaches, All-America, live scores, Newton’s public record and every settled pick. Premium adds Newton’s upcoming picks with win probability and projected score, matchup forecasts for any two teams, season forecasts and playoff odds, and SimCentral. Premium members can also use Ask Newton as a preview. Premium is a paid plan. The referral program or a private invitation can also give you Premium for a limited time. See plans and prices.
How often does Saturview update?
Live Scores checks for fresh scores every minute while you have it open. If updates fall behind, we keep the last available scores and label them delayed. Team ratings update separately after published results are checked. Their update time appears at the bottom of the app. Actual scores never overwrite your simulated seasons.
What do the rankings mean, and how do the arrows work?
Team strength describes the overall football outlook. Season score describes results from the selected season. They consider scoring, defending, yardage, wins, opponents and schedule context. Game forecasts are separate estimates, so the higher-ranked team is not always the favorite.
Arrows show movement since the previous week: Up 3 means three places gained; down 3 means three lost. New means no comparable previous ranking. Early-season rankings can move sharply. Teams with insufficient coverage stay visible as Pending. Simulated seasons never change actual rankings.
Ratings are estimates, not guarantees. Displayed points and yardage describe recorded football results; they do not establish individual causal effects on wins. Injuries and availability are not comprehensively measured.
How should I read a matchup?
The chance to win tells you which team has the better shot. The point difference names the favored team. Neutral-site matchups remove the home-field advantage. The estimated score gives a rough picture of a possible finish, not an exact-score prediction.
What happens when I run a forecast?
The outlook considers remaining games and your selected outcomes. You can choose winners and see how those results change conference, playoff, and championship chances. These are our projections, not official playoff selections. Changing your picks does not change any actual game result.
Why are some players or positions missing from the selections?
All-America selections and player grades are live, and each position is graded against its own position group. Player profiles show current-season totals first, with earlier seasons listed separately. A production percentile is not a season grade. Missing positions are never filled with invented ratings.
What do the coaching records cover?
School history sums the available published coach-season records for that school. Duplicate entries and empty appointment rows are excluded. Some careers have missing years, and the coach feed can trail the game results feed. These totals are not verified complete tenure records. Full career records, coaching grades, championships and recruiting summaries remain withheld until their coverage is verified.
Are the awards watchlists official?
No. Saturview's award watchlists come from our own player grades. They are not official award ballots and do not measure media attention.
Can I ask Newton my own questions?
Yes, with Premium, as a preview. Ask Newton answers questions about teams, players and games. It can be busy or unavailable at times, and it can make mistakes, so treat its answers as a starting point for the football conversation.
How is SimCentral different from a season forecast?
SimCentral plays through one hypothetical regular season, one week at a time. Actual finals stay fixed. Simulated results change the outlook for later games, including teams you are not following. Choose a winner to explore a what-if; that restarts the same season with your choice applied. New season starts a different story.
A surprising win makes a cautious difference, rather than instantly turning a team into a title favorite. These are experimental scenarios, not proven improvements in prediction accuracy. Simulated scores are possible outcomes, not exact-score predictions. Selecting any team in the national picture shows its results from the same run.
After the regular season, SimCentral plays conference title games and a 12-team playoff through the national championship. Bowl assignments, player statistics, and individual awards are not simulated yet. The separate Season forecast has its own postseason assumptions.
